At Off-Ice Defence Academy, the safety and respect of our young athletes are our highest priorities. We are committed to providing a professional, supportive, and secure environment where everyone can flourish through fitness and discipline.
Code of Conduct: Athletes
- Treat all coaches, fellow athletes, and staff with respect at all times.
- Engage fully in training sessions with a positive attitude and focus.
- Arrive on time and ready to train in appropriate athletic gear.
- Safety equipment must be used as instructed by the coaching staff.
- Bullying, inclusive of verbal and physical aggression, will not be tolerated.
Code of Conduct: Parents & Guardians
- Encourage your child to abide by any rules and respect officials and coaches.
- Support your child without exerting undue pressure or negative criticism.
- Communicate any health concerns or injuries to the Academy immediately.
- Ensure timely drop-offs and pick-ups for all scheduled sessions.
- Respect the professional boundaries of our training environment.
Code of Conduct: Coaches
- Prioritise the well-being and safety of every athlete above all else.
- Lead by example, demonstrating discipline, respect, and integrity.
- Provide constructive feedback focused on progression and development.
- Maintain current safeguarding certifications and professional standards.
- Ensure all training exercises are age-appropriate and safely managed.
Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone at Off-Ice Defence Academy. Our principles include: 1) Ensuring the child's welfare is paramount; 2) Respecting the rights and dignity of all young people; 3) Adopting a preventative approach to risk; 4) Maintaining transparent reporting procedures; and 5) Ensuring all staff undergo enhanced background checks.

Recruitment and Suitability
The coach operating Off Ice Academy will maintain:

Supervision
Sessions will be conducted in a safe and supervised environment.
Parents or guardians remain responsible for participants before and after sessions.

One-to-One Coaching
Where individual coaching takes place:

Parents or guardians should remain present, nearby, or aware of the session location.

Sessions should take place in open, observable environments.

Coaches will maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Communication regarding participants under 18 should be directed through parents or guardians whenever possible.

Behaviour and Conduct
All participants have the right to train in an environment free from bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abuse.
Concerns relating to participant welfare will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.

Photography and Media
Photographs or videos of participants will only be taken with appropriate parental consent.

Reporting Concerns
Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to Off Ice Academy as soon as possible.
Where appropriate, concerns may be referred to relevant safeguarding authorities or emergency services.
